About
The Housing Committee is a sub-committee of the Lake Placid/North Elba Community Development Commission. It is intended to promote the objectives of the Lake Placid/North Elba Comprehensive Plan concerned with supporting community housing initiatives that provide adequate, safe, and energy efficient housing opportunities that meet a diverse range of needs for all income levels and age groups. The Committee will provide recommendations and guidance to the Town and Village Boards when appropriate.The committee has facilitated or participated in projects including:
- a Town/Village Joint Housing Needs Assessment
- Land Use Code regulatory updates including updates to short-term rental regulations and recommendations that incentivize affordable housing and density
- a Joint Town/Village Housing Plan
- low-income home repair assistance program with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funding, partnering with the Housing Assistance Program of Essex County
