Improving the ability to walk and bike around town and promoting recreational hiking and biking throughout the region is a part of the Comprehensive Plan. The Development Commission has facilitated or participated in the following:
- walking and biking friendly Land Use Code recommendations
- Main Street Advisory study group
- Historic Bike Tour group
- Main Street upgrade public information session
- trail study map
They have also worked on a sidewalk inventory project with students from Paul Smith College and are considering pursuing a Complete Streets plan.
