The Development Commission is responsible for the implementation of the Town/Village Joint Comprehensive Plan, which outlines a vision for the North Elba/Lake Placid community. As a result of this plan, the Development Commission has helped facilitate or been involved in a number of community-building efforts, including:

• Lake Placid Farmers Market
• Lake Placid Community Day
• Partnerships with local, regional, and state organizations
• 2022 Destination Management Plan
• Working with  Olympic Regional Development Agency (ORDA) and the Lake Placid School District to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification
