Tips to Know:
When completing the Building Permit/Demolition Application at Cloud Permit there is no submit button after you fill in the information, you click the "Back to Workspace" in the upper left-hand corner. The application will say "Draft" until it is submitted.
There are four required roles on each building permit application. You can assign more than one role to a person. You can also add any roles necessary to the application (i.e. Engineer, Electrician).
Liability & Worker's Comp are required to be submitted for building permits as well. You can drag and drop files in the application.
Building Department
The Town of North Elba Building Department has many functions which include the receipt and review of applications for building and electrical permits; review of related plans; issuance of permits; and conduct of related field inspections. The inspections ensure that the work being performed is in compliance with the current building codes and Town regulations.
The Building Department provides the issuance of the following permits per New York State Building Code:
- Building Permits - issued for the construction of new residential construction, new commercial construction, additions, alterations, renovations, sheds, decks, pools, roofing, siding, garages, fences, satellite dishes, etc.
- Electrical Permits - issued for the installation of wiring systems in new buildings, new additions, electric heat, service changes/upgrades, etc.
- New Electrical - service changes/upgrades, etc.
- Certificates of Occupancy - issued upon completion of new construction and major renovations.
- Certificate of Compliance for Equipment
Codes & Zoning Services
The Planning Department includes the Review Board and Zoning Board of Appeals.

The Review Board is responsible for reviewing and approving a wide range of development activities under the terms of the Town/Village Land Use Code.
